Wire

Page history last edited by Philipp Schmidt 6 mos ago

The Wire is a simple way of keeping track what's going on in a course discussion. It's like a content stream that aggreates discussions which take place across many blogs. When readers click on the post or comment headings, they are taken straight to the original blogs.

A scenario for its use: participants post their course related work on individual blogs. They use categories or tags to indicate which posts are relevant for the course. The feed URLs for these posts can be submitted into a simple form (see below) and will then be pulled automatically by the yahoo pipe that is making all this work.

Thanks to Hapdaniel "The Pickled Piper" whose yahoo pipes wizardry pulls it all together.

Below is an example that fetches p2pu related content from Stian's and my blog (update: and an increasing number of other blogs, thanks Jim!). The form to add more feeds is at the bottom of the page.

Here is the code that embeds the pipe:

<script src="http://pipes.yahoo.com/js/listbadge.js">{"pipe_id":"ed8183571a646f650678456d1b984f5d", "height":"100%", "_btype":"list"}</script>

And this is the iframe that embeds the google form:

<iframe src="http://spreadsheets.google.com/embeddedform?key=rkfTjEyTRbZlaJS6URg8CbA" width="500" height="370" frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0">Loading...</iframe>
